To be honest, I'd much rather have our (PV) 8 state football titles compared to your 8 tennis titles lol

Eight football titles is awesome, man. Congrats to you on that. PV has certainly had their fair share of great football athletes. Wouldn't wanna take anything away from them on that.

As for the trophies, I've thought about that a few times too. I would imagine they could either make special trophy cases in the new schools. Maybe auction some off. There's probably quite a bit of money that could be made on that. I know many of us would pay a bit to have some that we contributed to winning.

I would think they would put them somewhere, if not in the new school, then maybe have the PV titles at town hall, and the Appy ones at their civic center or something.

I think that they ought to build a monument inside the school showcasing all the state championships for both high schools. A "walk of champions" if you will. This is a good way to represent the accomplishments of both high schools.

That would be an excellent idea and hopefully the schools would consider something like this instead of abandoning all aspects of the former schools.

Re: Week 6 note to Unchained....

Biggin, just remind our friend of the feather that PV is the only school in the LPD to have won a state title in baseball, basketball, and football. He and I have had this run around before, the tennis accomplishments are great, however, it is much easier to win a state title in tennis than probably any other sport. Most single A schools do not even have tennis courts at their school, and if by some miracle you get a tennis equivalent to Thomas Jones or Carol Dale they go pro, they do not even play tennis at the high school level.

The only thing he'll get out of me is that Kelly Baseball has been more dominant over time than PV Football. Of course when you have schools like Pound who have been lucky to even field a team over the past 5 years it really isn't that hard to do. While on baseball, it can not get here soon enough (at the high school level). This should be the best baseball team PV has fieleded since 05, and this team should have more pitching depth than that team. I would argue in a 3 game series that the 10 version would beat the 05 version.

I've now gotten gotten completley off topic and will shutup.

PV also has won 'em in Track...and that is a rarity for schools in this area...and quite an achievement.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

    Re: Week 6

Why is there such an uproar over state titles? Nobody is saying anything bad about PV or their athletic programs and traditions. Those of us from Wise will be proud of our teams that bring home state titles in any sport. I think it's sad that athletes work hard week in and week out, and that hard work goes unappreciated by members of a community who don't value their sport because it's not football, basketball, or baseball. A lot of people from this area have had their higher education paid for because of their tennis abilities, so that seems pretty good to me. Again, good job Vikings on your athletic achievements.

...and PV ranks second in the LPD with 16 state titles. There's nothng wrong with that.

It's not just tennis titles though. Nobody has won more in more sports than JJK. Not just a 1-sport school like most of the others (although obviously folks will call it a baseball school)
